Jason Miller

Jason Brent Miller, 47, of Joplin, Missouri, passed away Tuesday, March 23, 2021, surrounded by family.

Jason was born December 5, 1973 in Joplin, Missouri to Karma Miller and Jeanne (Key) Miller. He grew up in the Joplin area and graduated in 1992 from Joplin High School. 

Following high school, Jason moved to New York City and graduated from art school. While living in New York, he worked for a famous interior decorator and also managed Tortilla Flats, a restaurant in Manhattan. 








In 2004, Jason relocated back to Joplin, where he was the catering manager for Chatter’s and Crabby’s restaurants. Jason was a very talented chef. He started Good Karma Catering, which led to him opening Instant Karma downtown and Eagle Drive-In. In 2016, Jason was voted Chef of the Year by Feast Magazine.

Jason was united in marriage to Suzanne Hope on February 15, 2004, in Eureka Springs, Arkansas. She survives.

Additional survivors include his children, Karma Miller and Jasper Miller; step-son, Ethan Guodace; brother, Randall Miller; sister, Carrie Johnson; aunts, Esther Ferre and Nancy Geter; uncle, Phillip Miller; cousins, April Brunner, Heather Davis, Phillip Davis, Rush Geter and Trevor Ferre; as well as a host of extended family members and friends.

Jason was preceded in death by his grandparents Dwight and Edna Key.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to SMB Bank for the benefit fund of Karma and Jasper Miller.

A special thank you to his niece Kelsey Johnson who was there for him every day of his illness.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date.

Arrangements are under the care and direction of Parker Mortuary.
