Kathleen Ann Bary, or Kathy as she was mostly known, passed away on Tuesday, March 9, 2021 at Mercy of Joplin at the age of 70.
Kathy was born December 10, 1950 in Lamar, Missouri, daughter of the late Joseph Arthur Bary and Louise Evelyn (Owen) Bary.
She grew up in Lamar, Missouri and spent her childhood horseback riding, enjoying the latest fashions, listening to music (especially The Beatles) and spending time with her cousins. She graduated from Lamar High School in 1968.
Kathy then moved to Kansas City, Missouri to get out on her own. Here she was employed as a clerical worker and met the man she would eventually marry. The couple moved to Colorado where she worked for Denver Department of Public Works in the drafting department. They had one child, a son.
In 1993, Kathy divorced her husband and moved with her son to Joplin, Missouri, where they stayed until her son finished high school. She then moved to Bentonville, Arkansas and began a career with Wal-Mart at the distribution center in Bentonville, Arkansas in late 2000. This career would carry her from Arkansas to Arlington, Texas, Waynesville, Missouri, and finally to Joplin, Missouri where she would retire in 2015.
Kathleen was a loving daughter, sister, mother, grandmother and friend who will be greatly missed. She was a free-spirit, fun-loving and full of laughter and life. As an adult she was fun to be around and loved to joke and laugh and her favorite activities were family reunions and time spent with her son and grandchildren.
Survivors include her son, Skyler McLane (Katie) of Warner Robins, Georgia; three grandchildren (Devon, Deanna, Kaitlyn); brothers, David Bary (Linda) of Grand Prairie, Texas; John Bary (Marcia) of Lamar and sister, Sandy Bary of Joplin, MO.
The family would like to thank Kathleen's doctors and all her caregivers for their compassionate care.
Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Parker Mortuary with Memorial Services to be held at a later date.
