Wayne Workman

Wayne Lee Workman, 91 or Liberal, MO passed away at Freeman Hospital in Joplin, Friday, March 26th after a short illness. 

He was born Sept. 19, 1929 in Kaiser, MO to William Lonzo Workman and Chloe Agnes (Cornet) Workman. The family moved to Lamar, MO when Wayne was 1 year old. He graduated from Lamar High School in 1947. 

He married Donna Jeane Bartlett on September 23, 1950 in Bentonville, AR. They celebrated 70 years of marriage in 2020. They have one daughter, Waneta Faye Knight. He served in the Army from 1951 to 1954 where he was wounded in Korea. He received multiple medals including a purple heart. 








Wayne worked at several factories through the years, including Lawn Boy, Harvest Brand, O Sullivan, and Leggett and Platt. He was also a full time farmer. He was a man full of stories who was an avid fisherman and hunter. 

He is survived by his wife Donna, daughter Waneta and her husband Roy Knight. Two grandsons, Ryan Knight and his wife Dara of Raymore, MO and Kyle Knight of Joplin and three great grandchildren, Carter, Greyson and Landry Knight of Joplin, MO. 

He was preceded in death by his parents and 5 brothers Leonard Workman and his wife Vida, Jewel Workman and his wife Helen Jean, Don Workman and his wife Georgia Lee, and Ernie Workman and his wife Carolyn and Clifford Workman. And also preceded in death by his 6 sisters Eunice Levaugh and her husband Ray, Ellen Ambler and her husband Cecil, Elsie Clark and her husband Doe, Pauline Smith, Nadine Ireland and her husband Vic and twin sister Waunita Faye Workman. Donations in lieu of flowers can be made to the Iantha Cemetery. 

The family will receive visitors on Monday May 29, 2021 from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Konantz Warden Funeral Home. A graveside funeral service will be held at Iantha Cemetery on Tuesday May 30, 2021 at 11:00 am.
