(From Derfelt Funeral Home)Brandon Jeffrey Hay, age 35 of Galena, passed away at 1:02 am on Saturday, December 3, 2022, following a short illness.
Brandon was born in Ventura, California on August 19, 1987, to the union of Jeffrey Kenneth Hay and Carmen Lucille (Standley) Hay. He graduated from Riverton High School with the class of 2006 and followed up his education with different college and law enforcement training courses over the years.
Brandon worked for various Cherokee County law enforcement agencies, most recently with the Cherokee County Sheriff’s Department, ending his career as the SRO for Riverton School in July of 2022. Helping others, especially the students, was his passion and he touched many lives in his time.
Brandon is survived by his parents - Jeff and Carmen Hay of Galena, his brother - Kyle Jacob Hay of Logan, Utah and his sister - Amanda Jean Kemp of Joplin, Missouri. He leaves behind a daughter, Skyy Marie Hay, the joy of his life, of Riverton, Kansas. Brandon will be missed by numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins as well as many friends and colleagues.
Brandon found Love and happiness in his last few months with his girlfriend, Rebecca Heckmaster. We grieve with her and her boys for what could have been, but believe that God placed them in his life to help him find peace during his last days and pray for healing and renewed joy for all of them.

Brandon accepted Christ as his savior and was baptized as a child. He recently rededicated his life to the Lord and was led in the profession of faith by Pastor Brad Hunt and has now been welcomed into the arms of our Savior. He no longer faces the struggles and heartache that we deal with here on earth. All his pain has been taken away and he is now filled with everlasting joy.
He will be missed by many but will live on in the hearts and minds of those that knew and loved him until we meet him again in the glorious kingdom of Heaven.
Brandon has been entrusted to Derfelt Funeral Home of Galena for cremation. The family will host a memorial service at 2:00 pm on Saturday, December 17, 2022, at Park Hill Nazarene Church, 2701 S. Main Street, Galena, KS.
