Nick Parolin

Nick Parolin, beloved life partner, friend, son, brother, and uncle, drew his last breath at his home in Columbia, MO on November 5th, 2022. He was a good, witty, intelligent, tenacious, courageous, and generous man. In life he was a lifetime adventurer, world traveler, Viet Nam veteran, and disability rights activist.

Nick was born in Carthage, MO on August 10, 1946 and graduated from Carthage High School in 1964. He attended and graduated from Missouri Southern State College with a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology in 1976. Serving in Viet Nam from 1968 to 1970, he received the Bronze Star for leadership in battle.








Nick is survived by his life partner of 29 years, Linda Green of Columbia; brother, Bill Parolin (Peggy), of Kansas City; sister Sue Whitehead - Bray (Johnny), of San Diego, sister Klaar Crutcher of Branson; many greatly loved nieces and nephews as well as friends living around the world, and his much loved dog, Sweetie. He was preceded in death by his father John Parolin, his mother Emma G. McMillen Parolin Boatright, his brother, Jon Howard Johnson, and his sister, Martha Jane Nelson.

The family would like to thank Misty Blumer for her excellent and dedicated assistance she provided for Nick over the last 11+ years that allowed him to continue living independently in his home.








A party celebrating his life will be held on December 12, 2022 from 6 to 8 pm at the Riechmann Pavilion in Columbia, MO. Graveside Services will be held in Joplin, MO at the Ozark Memorial Park Cemetery at 2:00 pm on December 14, 2022 with full military honors.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Central Missouri Human Society, Little Rays of Sunshine Animal Rescue, or an animal organization of your choice.
