(From Clark Funeral Home)Malloy “Sonny” Keith Southern, age 81, passed away on Tuesday, December 6, 2022, at Freeman Hospital in Neosho, Missouri, after an extended illness.
Sonny was born on April 25, 1941, in Sarcoxie, Missouri, to the late Glendean Southern and Rosie (Slavens) Southern. He grew up in the Goodman area and graduated from Diamond High School in 1959.
On December 17, 1992, he married Carol Lynn Southern, and she preceded him in death on December 16, 2019.
Sonny worked in the auto business for nearly 50 years, working at Spicer Chevrolet and Griffith Motors and later owning and operating Southern Auto Sales.
He owned and operated The Rustic Western Wear in Neosho for 17 years. He enjoyed raising goats and visiting the museum at Bass Pro Shop. He attended the Second Baptist Church in Neosho, Missouri.

Sonny will be remembered by his three children, Keith Southern, Chad (Cari) Southern, and Stacey (Rusty) Enlow; the mother of his children, Linda Southern; two stepdaughters, Heather (Neil) VanLue, and Brandi (Joey) Versluis; six grandchildren, Brittany (Will) Howell, Hayden Southern, Grace Enlow, Olivia Enlow, Colton Southern, and Chapman Southern; five step-grandchildren, Finn Versluis, Leyton Versluis, Carter Versluis, Craig VanLue and Hunter VanLue; two great-grandchildren, Anna Marie Howell, and Jace Howell.
In addition to his wife and parents, he is preceded in death by two sisters, Melba Shadwick and Myrna Pace, and one brother, Melvin “Bud” Southern.
Services will be announced at a later date.
