(From Parker Mortuary)Gary Richards Dawson, age 81 lifelong resident of Webb City, passed away on Monday, July 10, 2023 peacefully after a long battle with multiple illnesses.
Gary was born February 21, 1942, in Webb City, MO son of the late Alfred and Alma Dawson. He graduated from Webb City High School and continued his education at Pittsburg State University, Pittsburg Kansas.
He married Dixie Ruth Fisher June 24,1966. They were blessed with one son Michael, on November 4,1974 and enjoyed over 43 years of loving marriage.
Gary’s early work experience included a position at Broadway Market in Webb City, where he worked in the meat department. However, it was his role in the family furniture company that truly defined his professional life. For over 60 years, he dedicated himself to the success of the business.
A man of deep faith, Gary was an active member of First Baptist Church of Webb City. He served as the music director, using his talents to uplift and inspire the congregation. His passion for church music was shared with much of his community, as he dedicated over 50 years to serving in various area churches and singing with multiple gospel quartets.
In addition to his commitment to his church, Gary also found fulfillment in giving back to his community. He volunteered his time as a Board Member of the Jasper County Sheltered Facilities and served on various Webb City Committees. Gary's selflessness and dedication to serving others will be remembered as one of his greatest legacies.
Above all, Gary cherished his role as a loving father and grandfather. His granddaughter, Marina Tallman, brought him immense joy, and he was devoted to supporting her in realizing her dreams.
In addition to his parents, Gary was preceded in death by his wife Dixie Dawson and a sister-in-law Treva Dawson.
Gary is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Michael and Amy Dawson, his granddaughter, Marina A. Tallman, his brothers and their wives, Jim and Cheri Dawson and Jack and Nancy Dawson, as well as a host of additional family members and friends who will miss him dearly.
Gary will be remembered as a devoted family man, a dedicated servant of his church, and a pillar of his community. His impact on the lives of those around him will not be forgotten.
Funeral services will be held Thursday July 13, 2023, 11:00 a.m. at First Baptist Church, Webb City, with Pastor Joe Williams and Rev. Nathan Dawson officiating.

Interment will follow in Ozark Memorial Park Cemetery with Jeremy Dawson, Brendan Dawson, Jonathan Dawson, Spencer Dawson, Zachary Dawson, and Joseph Dawson serving at pallbearers.
The family will receive friends at Parker Mortuary on Wednesday July 12, 2023 from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, Memorial contributions may be made to the Missouri Baptist Children's Home in care of Parker Mortuary.
