(From Parker Mortuary)Eli Benjamin Bowen II, age 60, of Joplin, passed away on Friday, August 25, 2023, at his home.
Eli, son of the late Reuben and Patsy (Evans) Bowen, was born on May 1, 1963, in Springfield, TN. He then moved to Virgina at a young age and was a graduate of Phoebus High School in Hampton, VA with the Class of 1982.
He then enlisted in the United States Army where he served his country honorably as a tactical wire operations specialist. Eli was of the Christian faith and was a friend to everyone he met and enjoyed getting to know people. He enjoyed fishing but was a talented musician having played for over 18 years with his band, Sundown.
Survivors include his children, Rachel Petersen, and her husband, Scott, of Joplin, and Jessica Zentz, of Manhatton, KS; three grandchildren, Marissa Zentz, Summer Zents, and Richard Wilson; siblings, Reuben C. Bowen, Belinda Kaye Bowen, Jeffery D. Bowen, Sean E. Bowen, and Dena M. Bowen; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Eli was preceded in death by one sister, Theresa F. Bowen.
Private family services with military honors will be held at a later date.
Cremation arrangements are under the personal care and direction of Parker Mortuary, Joplin.
