Gordon Souder

Gordon Lea Souder, age 87, Carthage, Missouri, passed away Saturday morning, September 2, 2023, at his home. 

Gordon was born January 5, 1936, in Diamond, Missouri, the son of the late George Hugh Souder and Bonnie Ladine (Hansford) Souder. He was a 1954 graduate of Diamond High School, and graduated from Ozark Bible College in 1959. 

He married Rebecca Ann Wilson on May 20, 1960, in Joplin, Missouri. 

Gordon was a Minister of the gospel of Jesus Christ for over 50 years throughout the world including extended ministries in British Columbia, Canada, Crane, Missouri, and Derby, Kansas. He enjoyed ministry and was active in many evangelistic endeavors throughout his life continuing into retirement. He was a member of The Bridge A Christian Church (First Christian Church) of Carthage, Missouri for over 20 years. He enjoyed reading, and spending time with his family.

Survivors include his wife, of 63 years Rebecca; six children, Thomas Souder (Kelly), Joplin, Missouri, Andrew Souder (Melaney) Joplin, Missouri, Nathan Souder (Keeisha), Joplin, Missouri, Priscilla Pickler (David), Joplin, Missouri, Matthew Souder (Amanda), Shawnee, Kansas, and Rhoda Frech (Jim), Pittsburg, Kansas; a brother, Harley Souder (Myrna), Riverton, Kansas; 17 grandchildren, and 7 great grandchildren.

Gordon was also preceded in death by a brother, Charles Souder; and two sisters Willa Mae Groth, and Beverly Moser.

Funeral services will be held at 10 am Saturday, September 9, 2023, at The Bridge A Christian Church (First Christian Church) of Carthage. Burial will follow in the Fidelity Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 pm Friday, September 8, 2023, at Knell Mortuary.
