(From Campbell-Biddlecome Funeral Home)Jeanette (Jeanie) Yessen, 97, passed from this life on September 3, 2023, after a long life of joy. Jeanie was born July 16, 1926, in Loma Linda, CA, the daughter of Madison Smith and Mary Elizabeth (Redick) Slaughter. She was preceded in death by her parents and four sisters.
She worked at Southwestern Bell Telephone in Miami, OK, for 28 years and was the secretary at the Seneca Christian Church for many years. She worked her lifetime for her family, the Church and the youth of her community. She enjoyed gardening, sunshine, and was an avid reader. In her early years, she was very studious in school, majoring in Child Psychology at Pomona College in California.
In 1946, her many interests included sewing and knitting socks for the local USO which led her to the love of her life, Lawrence Thomas (Larry) Yessen, a soldier from Sedalia, Missouri. They were married in May of 1947 and cherished 58 years together until his passing in May of 2005. They enjoyed many years of square dancing and made lifelong friends. She cherished dear friends from the Seneca Christian Church, the Seneca Study Club, the Classy Ladies, and many good neighbors. She was very thankful for the care she received at Wildwood during her last year.
Survivors include two daughters; Bonnie Jean Morehead and husband Bob, Becky Sue Heffren and husband Dan; six grandchildren- Jennell Goins and husband Darrel, Kim Hembree and husband Faron, Cory Morehead and wife Sammi, Josh Heffren and wife Lynsey, Andrea Heffren, Laura Rairdon and husband Terry; eight great grandchildren -Jayden Goins, Colby Goins, Garett Hembree, Madison Hembree, Brooklynne Heffren, Miller Thomas Heffren, Danecca Heffren, and Abbi Rairdon.
Funeral services under the direction of Campbell-Biddlecome Funeral Home, Seneca, will be held at the Seneca Christian Church with visitation at 10:00 AM and funeral services at 11:00 AM on Saturday, September 9. Joshua Frakes will officiate. The burial will be in the Seneca Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Grandsons and Great Grandsons.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be sent to the Seneca Library.
