(From Housh-Goodwin Funeral Home)Irma Lea (Burkey) Wecker, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family and Brodie on January 9, 2024.
She was born on October 28, 1926, in rural Jasper County, Missouri to the union of Frank and Grace (Garber) Burkey. Irma married the love of her life, Louis “Bud” Wecker on November 15, 1947, and made their life together in Carthage, Missouri.
Bud and Irma were blessed with four children, Janet Wampler, Karen McDonald, Bob Wecker and Robyn Wecker Moore. Irma loved her family and Jesus more than anything. She was a member of Reeds Baptist and loved serving there.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Louis “Bud” Wecker on May 7, 1981; her parents, Frank and Grace Burkey; brothers, Kenny Burkey, Frankie Burkey, Floyd Burkey and Raymond Burkey; sisters, Wanda Smith and Bonnie Kisling; son-in-law’s, Charles Wampler and Ken Moore; grandchildren, Tracy Wampler Welch, Chad Wampler, Derek McDonald and Greta McDonald; great-grandchildren, Colston Wampler, Morgan McDonald and baby boy Wecker.
Irma is survived by her children, Janet Wampler, of Carthage, Karen McDonald and husband, Jerry, of Carthage, Bob Wecker and wife, Diana, of Carthage and Robyn Wecker Moore of Russellville, Kentucky; grandchildren, Chet and Jennnifer Wampler, Trisha and Clay Edmonson, Jacob and Adri McDonald, Jessica and James Galardo, Stacey and James Musche, Jason and Gina Wecker, Nicole Moore Finchum and Chad Finchum; and Holly Wampler Perin; twenty three great-grandchildren; six great-great grandchildren; one sister, Adabelle Nance; numerous nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other family and friends.
Funeral services for Mrs. Wecker are 2:00 p.m. Saturday, January 13, 2024, at Housh-Goodwin Funeral Home, with Pastor Bob Holman officiating. Burial will follow in the Sarcoxie Cemetery.
Those honoring her life by serving as pallbearers are Chet Wampler, Clay Edmonson, James Musche, Jason Wecker, James Galardo and Jacob McDonald. Honorary pallbearer will be Chad Finchum. Visitation will be Friday evening, January 12, 2024, from 6-8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
