Charlie Shoup

Charles Lee Shoup was born on August 7, 1937 in Webb City, Missouri, and passed from this life on January 26, 2024 in Joplin’s Freeman West Hospital after a short illness. He was 86 years old. 

Charlie was the son of Frank Harold and Mildred Bernice (Huddleston) Shoup, both of which proceeded him in death, as did his brothers, Harold Thomas Shoup, Kenneth Ray Shoup, and Larry Lynn Shoup; his sister, Janice Faye (Shoup) Norton; his daughters, Christie Sue (Shoup) Cornman and Kelly Denise Shoup; and his great- grandchildren, Zackary and Blaine Gibby.







Charlie is survived by his wife, Kay Shoup (Prather). They were married in Webb City on August 22, 1970. Also surviving are: his sister, Doris Eileen (Shoup) Beckham; two daughters, Leigh Shoup and Jan [Steve] Lindsey; three grandchildren, Gipsey Rider, Nathan Shoup and Erin [Andrew Sr.] Ducker; along with thirteen great- grandchildren, and several great-great-grandchildren.

Charlie was a lifelong resident of Webb City, graduating from Webb City High School in 1955. He remained a Webb City Cardinal football fan for life. Charlie was a tank driver in the Missouri State National Guard for 10 years and worked at Atlas Powder Company for 40 years until his retirement. He was an active member of the Lowell Friends Church in Lowell, Kansas for 53 years. Charlie was known for his faith, friendliness, and love of family.
