Curt Sill

Curtis "Curt" Rawson Sill, age 61, passed away on Thursday January 25, 2024 at his home after a sudden illness. He was born March 2nd,1962 in Carthage MO. 

The son of Ralph and Linda Sill, and Anna Billington.
Curt graduated from Diamond High School in 1980, He married Paula Carpenter August 30, 1985. To this union they had one Son, Kyle.

Curt worked at Hydraulic Specialties from 1979 to 1993. He started working for the Missouri Department of Transportation in 1994 and retired in 2018.






 

After a short-lived retirement he went back to work at Southwest Grinding. Curt was a member of Uncommon Life where he and Paula taught Life Kids. His kids loved him dearly and they couldn't wait to see him every Sunday to see what kind sweet treats he would bring them and there were no rules when Curt was around. Curt loved his Ford truck that he had driven since 1979 and everyone knew the stories about Ole Blue. He was always in for a practical joke. After retirement one of his hobbies was running the state roads to see if there was anything wrong, giving his friends a call to let them know about it! Curt's passion was going to the lake since his first trip at 6 months.

Curt was adopted at birth and always wondered about his birth family and in March 2022 he connected. He was so very excited to meet his mother and 2 sisters. Nieces, nephews, and greats
and loved them dearly.

Survivors include Paula Sill, of the home, son Kyle Sill, Joplin, birth mother Anna Billington, Carthage, MO, two sisters, Jan Cortez (Cedric), Carthage, MO, Susan Stamate (Steve), Pierce City, MO.
He also was survived by his brother in laws and sister in laws, Melvin & Betty, Carpenter, Sulphur Springs AR, Melanie & Dale Deskis St Louis, MO, Donna & Richard Bratton South West City, MO. Many nieces and nephews, greats, and even great greats.









He was preceded in death by his parents Ralph and Linda Sill, mother-in-law and father-in-law Donald and Betty Carpenter,

Visitation has been scheduled for 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday January 30th, 2024 and service Wednesday January 31st at 10:00 am at Mason-Woodard Funeral Home in Joplin. Burial will follow at Osborne Cemetery, Joplin.
