(From Fohn Funeral Home)Phyllis Dell (Ward) Hayworth of Neosho, Missouri passed away Thursday, January 11, 2024 at Freeman West Hospital in Joplin, Missouri, after a brief illness. She was 75.
Phyllis Dell Ward was born on June 1, 1948 at North Little Rock, Arkansas to Elva E. and Verla Mae (Hendrickson) Ward.
She was a 1966 graduate of Sylvan Hills High School in Sherwood, Arkansas.
She married Ronald Dene Hayworth on March 18, 1967 at Berean Baptist Church in North Little Rock, Arkansas. After her husband's stint in the Air Force, they moved to Wichita, Kansas where they raised their family. She was a long-time volunteer at the Wichita River Festival, the historic Orpheum Theatre and with the Society of Professional Journalists’ Gridiron Show.
She moved to Neosho in 2010, where she and Ron were quickly accepted by a wonderful group of friends and neighbors and spent many pleasant evenings sharing meals and conversation. Some of her favorite pastimes were crocheting, sewing, and working word puzzles.
Survivors include her husband of 56 years; two sons, Chad Hayworth (Jennifer) of Neosho, Missouri, and Justin Hayworth (Callie) of Pleasant Hill, Iowa; nine grandchildren, Peyton Hayworth, Ryne Hayworth, Addison Cobb, Ryleigh Hayworth, Brayden Hayworth, Delaney Hayworth, Greyson Lamp, Taylor Lamp, and Kennedy Lamp; two great grandchildren, with a third on the way; a sister, Donna Akins of Sherwood, Arkansas, and a brother, Nevin Ward (Carol) of Wichita Falls, Texas.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and an infant brother, Edwin Lee Ward.
Services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Monday, January 22, 2024 at Fohn Funeral Home in Cassville. Brother Tony Ball will conduct the services. Burial will be at Hazelgreen Cemetery in Boulder City, Missouri.
The family will receive friends from 10:00 A.M. Monday until service time at Fohn Funeral Home in Cassville.
