Ron Bassett

Ronald R. Bassett, Sr., age 75 of Joplin, Missouri, passed away on Friday, January 26, 2024 at the KU Medical Center in Kansas City, Kansas following a short illness. Ron was born March 30, 1948 in Joplin to the late Raymond and Virginia (Moffet) Bassett.

Ron worked in the salvage yard business for over 50 years, eventually owning and operating Meadows Truck Parts in Joplin with his wife, Billie. In his spare time, Ron could be found at the gym working out or putting together different LEGO projects.

Ron married Billie Miksell in Miami, Oklahoma on January 5, 1980, she survives of the home in Joplin.

Additional survivors include his sons, Ronnie Bassett (Alley) of Joplin, Rob Bassett (Jeni) of Joplin, Vernon Perdew (Brandy) of Joplin, Mike Bassett (Sabrina) of Seattle, WA., and Will Fleming (Lori) of Duenweg; daughter, Brandi Whittington (Cody) of Joplin; 34 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren; sisters, Susan McClure of Ft. Scott, KS. And Nancy Orton (Mike) of Joplin; numerous nieces, nephews and extended family and friends.

Other than his parents, Ron is preceded in death by two grandchildren, Allison and Mikayla Bassett, as well as a brother, Rick Bassett.

There are no services planned at this time. Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Parker Mortuary, Joplin, Missouri.
