Norma Finley

(From Simpson Funeral Home)

Norma Jean Finley, born on September 4, 1932, in Leach, Oklahoma, embarked on her final adventure on January 23, 2024. A woman of extraordinary spirit, Norma's life was a testament to her adventurous, inspiring, and ambitious character.

Known for her strength, fearlessness, and love for life, Norma held a passion for exploring the world, which led her to iconic locations such as the Eiffel Tower, New York, and Germany. As a proud member of the Red Hat Club and the motorcycle group called the "Re-treads", Norma embraced every chance to experience the thrill of new experiences and the joy of shared camaraderie.

Throughout her life, Norma remained committed to her work, imbuing her role as an Office Manager at the family construction company with unwavering dedication until her retirement in 1991. Her work ethic and determination were only part of the picture, as she devoted equal, if not more, energy to her hobbies and personal interests.

Whether it was puzzles, weaving baskets, playing golf, bowling, dancing, or fishing, Norma was always game for anything. She was an avid traveler, a dedicated walker, and a treasured presence at her weekly Wednesday lunches with her sisters.

Norma was a devout Baptist, a member of the Forest Park Baptist Church, and most recently at Risen Ranch Cowboy Church. Her faith was reflected in her everyday life, embodying the spirit of Jeremiah 29:11, "For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future." This verse was a guiding light for Norma, a testament to her unwavering belief in the promise of tomorrow, and her ambition to live each day to the fullest.

Above all, Norma was a beacon of love and strength for her family. She is survived by her son, Philip Powell, and his wife Hope, her sisters Donna Hickman and husband Robert, and Judy Foster, her grandchildren Ryan Powell and his wife Lauren, Garrett Powell, Lillian Powell, and her great-grandchildren Oakley Powell, Finley Powell, Rylan Powell, and Shane Powell. Norma was preceded in death by her parents, Raymond and Thelma Lawrence, her brothers Raymond Jr and Jim Lawrence, and her brother-in-law Bobby Foster.

Norma's life was an inspiring testament to the power of ambition, the joy of adventure, and the importance of family. Her memory will continue to inspire and guide those who were fortunate to have known and loved her.
