James Walker

James Arnold Walker passed away on January 28, 2024, at the age of 89. He was born on August 11, 1934, in Belleville, MO, to the late William Wallace and Minnie Sullenger Walker.

James's youthful days were spent as a rodeo cowboy. He had a great love for horses and cattle. He later served his country as a cook in the army, a role that honed his skills in service and camaraderie. 

After his military service, he embarked on a career as a semi-truck driver, a profession that allowed him to retire with countless miles and memories. As a 50-year member of the Masonic Lodge, he exemplified the values of brotherhood and charity. 








James married the love of his life, Suanne Stephens, on April 14, 1956. Together they shared nearly 70 years of happiness.

He is survived by his loving wife, Suanne Walker; his granddaughter, Mariah England (Matt); his great-granddaughters, Hannah Young and Madison England; his brother, Don Walker, and numerous nieces and nephews. Along with his parents, James was preceded in death by his daughter, Jami Walker-Shearhart, and several siblings, with whom he is now joyfully reunited.

A celebration of life is planned for Thursday, February 1, 2024 at 3:00 p.m. at Parker Mortuary in Joplin, MO. The family invites friends and loved ones to Parker Mortuary for a time of visitation prior to the service at 2:00 p.m. Burial to follow at Carl Junction Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direct care of Parker Mortuary, Joplin, MO.
