Teresa Williams

(From Parker Mortuary)

Teresa Renee Williams, a beacon of love and joy, passed away on January 6, 2024, in Joplin, Missouri, at the age of 49. She was born on February 6, 1974, in Lawton, Oklahoma, to the late Preston Epps and Evelyn Williams. Teresa's life was a testament to the power of kindness, compassion, and an unyielding commitment to helping others.

Teresa dedicated her life to serving as a Rehab Outreach Specialist at the Oxford House. Her work was not just a job but a calling, as she became a tireless advocate for recovery, offering hope and support.

She had the ability to connect with people on a personal level. She was often the life of the party. Teresa's personable nature meant that she never met a stranger, only friends she hadn't yet embraced. Her nurturing heart extended beyond her own family, as she lovingly took under her wing any child in need, treating them as her own.

Teresa is survived by her mother Evelyn McMickens of Lawton, OK, and father George McMickens of Cleveland, OH.; her twin sister, Lisa Epps of Fort Worth, TX., brother, Isaac McMickens of Albuquerque, NM., and sister, Lacretia McMickens of Oklahoma City, OK. Her life was further enriched by the joy of her children, Aaron Yarbrough of Fort Worth, TX., Johnathon Epps of Fort Worth, Tx., and Mark Williams of Albuquerque, NM.; grandchildren Kyra Epps, Tristan Epps, Violet Williams, and Seraphina Williams; stepsons Michael Williams, Jr., and Matthew Williams. She is also survived by several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Teresa was preceded in death by her father, Preston Epps, and her nephew, Malcolm.

Above all, Teresa was loving—a word that encapsulates the very core of her being. Her love was a guiding force, a comfort, and a light for her family, friends, and all who had the privilege of crossing paths with her.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, January 20, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. at the Greater Galilee Baptist Church in Lawton, OK.

Arrangements are under the direct care of Parker Mortuary, Joplin, MO.
