(From Gorman-Scharpf Funeral Home)Jennifer Michelle (Saylor) Bryant, 45, of Springfield, MO, passed away on January 5, 2024. Jennifer was born in Aurora, CO, on November 27, 1978, to Marcelene and the late Dr. Robert Saylor of Springfield, MO.
The Saylor family moved to Springfield in 1989. Jennifer attended Wilder Elementary, Hickory Hills Junior High, and Glendale High School where she was a member of the Glengarry Scots and the swim team. She went on to receive her Bachelor of Science in Biology from Drury University in 2001.
She was a member of Zeta Tau Alpha sorority and studied abroad at Regents College in London while attending Drury. She later earned a Master’s of Teaching in Unified Science, as well as a Master’s degree in Biology. She was a beloved science teacher at Hillcrest High School for the past 20 years. She taught several general science, honors, and dual enrollment classes. She made a profound impact on her students by sharing her wealth of knowledge.
Jennifer was deeply devoted to her friends and family. Her genuine love for life allowed her to form authentic lifelong relationships with her family, friends, colleagues, and students. Her hugs were healing, her laughter contagious, and her smile unforgettable. She loved books, movies, singing (off key), dancing, and caring for her people. Some of her passions included learning new things, making memories through travel (especially at the beach), and environmental conservation.
Jennifer married the love of her life, Peter Bryant, on July 7, 2007, after first meeting at Camp Wakonda, which always held a special place in her heart. They were best friends who genuinely loved their time together talking, laughing, and challenging each other to be the best versions of themselves. They were blessed with four beautiful children who filled their lives with continuous adventure and joy. Jennifer’s free time was spent transporting her kids from one activity to another while weekends were filled with soccer games and dance competitions. She would not have wanted it any other way.
Jennifer was preceded in death by her father, Robert Saylor. She is also preceded by her grandparents, James and Joyce McMartin, and Darrell and Catherine Saylor.
