Barbara Bentley

Barbara Jane Bentley, age 97, formerly of Joplin, Missouri, passed away peacefully at her home in Van Buren, Arkansas. Barbara was born March 26, 1927 in Joplin to the late George and Fern (Foster) Montaldo, Jr. and had lived in the Joplin area most of her life.

Barbara graduated high school from Joplin and went on to receive her Master’s Degree in Education. She was an elementary teacher for Irving Elementary in Joplin from 1968 – 1987. 






Barbara was active in her community including members of the Missouri National Education Association, Joplin Teachers Association, Loma Linda Country Club and First Community Church of Joplin. In her spare time, she had a passion to volunteer with Meals of Wheels, the Omsbudsman Program and loved to partner with Crossline’s Ministries.

Barbara married Robert Lee Bentley on May 14, 1954 and he passed on November 11, 2002. Additionally, Barbara was preceded in death by a sister, Jean Kirk.







Those left to mourn her passing include a daughter, Jane Ziegler of Lavaca, Arkansas; son, Jack Bentley (Kelley) of Owasso, Oklahoma; grandchildren, Rob Bentley (Jocelyn) of Jenks, Oklahoma, Brooke Bentley of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma; great-grandchild, Reagan Bentley; brother, Jack Montaldo of Oregon; nieces Kathy Chronister (Joe) and Judy Grayston, both of Lavaca, Arkansas.

Graveside services are planned for Monday, August 12, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. at Ozark Memorial Park Cemetery in Joplin. Family will greet friends following the service at the cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Joplin Area of Aging “Meals on Wheels”, or Memory Lane Activities Fund, both in care of Parker Mortuary.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Parker Mortuary, Joplin, Missouri.
