(From Parker Mortuary)Mary Ann Hansen, 79, Joplin, MO., passed away on August 5, 2024, in Joplin, Missouri. She was born on September 24, 1944, to the late Jess and Viola (Hildreth) Hartje.
Mary, a lifelong resident of Joplin, graduated from Carl Junction High School in 1962. Her passion for helping others led her to pursue a career in nursing, earning her LPN from Franklin Tech in Joplin, MO. in 1980. Mary dedicated 30 years of her life to Freeman Health Systems, where she was not only a respected nurse but also a beloved colleague. Her commitment to care and compassion touched the lives of countless individuals throughout her esteemed career.
Family was the cornerstone of Mary's life. She was a devoted wife to her husband, Larry Hansen, who survives of the home, and a loving mother to her children. Mary's joy was multiplied by her grandchildren, who will forever cherish the memories and lessons she imparted.
Mary is survived by her son, David Burrington, son-in-law, Kevin Klingensmith, grandchildren; Chelsea Day (Robert), Marah Johnston (Matt), Alan Smith (Laura), and Brandon Burrington, sister; Linda Duncan, along with numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins, who will remember her for her warmth, guidance, and the laughter they shared.
Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Jason Burrington; daughter, Monica Klingensmith; siblings, Dolores Scuffham, Lorena Hunter, and Jesse L. Hartje, Jr., whose memories she held close to her heart.
Beyond her family and profession, she enjoyed reading books, listening and collecting Elvis Presley memorabilia, and gardening. Above all, Mary's greatest delight was in the time she spent with her family, whether it was sharing stories, imparting wisdom, or simply being present in the moment.
Cremation arrangements are under the direct care of Parker Mortuary, Joplin, MO.
