Lorraine Vice

Amelia "Lorraine" Vice, age 82, of Lamar, Missouri passed away October 8, 2024, at Barnes-Jewish Hospital in St. Louis, Missouri.

Lorraine was born October 25, 1941, in Hamilton, Missouri to Leslie Eugene Barnes and Leta Lorraine (Hunter) Barnes. Lorraine graduated from Missouri Southern State University with a bachelor’s degree in music. On September 9, 1961, Lorraine married Harvey Leroy Vice in Joplin, Missouri.

Lorraine was an accomplished pianist and began playing for church services at the age of 5. She would continue to serve the Lord through her music ministry for the remainder of her life, playing endlessly for church, weddings, funerals, and various venues. Her music was revered and appreciated by all who knew her.








In addition to her music ministry, Lorraine worked as a substitute teacher in the Kansas City school system. Later in life she transitioned to a position of secretary for the State Health Department. Her favorite and last position before retirement was that of secretary for the First Baptist Church of Lamar.

Lorraine had many hobbies, in addition to music, she loved the outdoors and was a country girl through and through. She loved fishing, gardening, traveling and photography. She was gifted in the arts and was an avid writer of poetry and storytelling. She loved God above all, and she shared that love with her family, friends, and all she met. She not only spoke of God’s love, she lived it.

Survivors include her husband of 63 years, Harvey; two sons, Harvey Lee and wife Janelle Vice of Clinton, Missouri and Robert and wife Christina Vice of Duenweg, Missouri; one daughter, Chrisy and husband Jeff Hall of Southeast Oklahoma; seven grandchildren, Brent Woods (Ashley Stilabower), Amber (Clay) Lasiter, Ashley (Scott) Hinkle, Brooke Woods, Elizabeth Vice, Mackenzie Vice and Christopher Vice; five great-grandchildren, Joslyin, Jonathan, Peyton, Morgan and Kayne; one sister, Jody (Gary) Jones of Atlanta, GA, and one sister-in-law, Suzie Barnes of Norfolk, VA., and one brother-in-law, Steve McMahon of Monkton, MD. Lorraine also leaves behind three nieces and one nephew.








Lorraine was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Bob Barnes, and Mike Barnes and one grandson, Drew Woods.

A Celebration of Life will be at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, October 17, 2024, at the First Baptist Church of Lamar.
