Maurine Styles

Maurine Esther Styles, age 94, of Sulphur Springs, Arkansas, departed this life peacefully on Friday, February 13, 2026, at Northwest Medical Center in Bentonville, Arkansas. She entered this life on July 18, 1931, in Orange, California, the middle of three children born to the late Maurice and Florence (Warren) Thompson.

She was raised in Little Rock, California, and was a 1949 graduate of Antelope Valley High School. On June 24, 1950, in Lancaster, California, she was united in marriage to Marcus H. “Mark” Styles, and to this union three daughters and one son were born. They moved their growing family to Sulphur Springs, Arkansas, in 1965.








Maurine's professional life was marked by her role as a dedicated secretary. She worked at the Winston Delaware Mobile Home plant in Noel and later retired from Hudson Foods in 1988.

Maurine cherished the simple joys of life. She found solace in the tranquility of her garden, the intricate patterns of her crocheting, and the challenge of puzzles. She was a member of The Church on the Hill in Gravette, Arkansas and the longtime caretaker of Butler Creek Cemetery.
Maurine's commitment to service was further demonstrated by her 50-year membership in the Eastern Star, where she formed lasting bonds and contributed to numerous charitable efforts.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Mark Styles on February 27, 2009; a daughter, Barbara Harlan; a brother, George Thompson; and a son-in-law, Wayne Matthews.








She is survived by two daughters, Ruth Matthews of Jay, Oklahoma and Ginny Poulter and husband, David, of Gravette, Arkansas; a son, David Styles and wife, Teri, of Sulphur Springs, Arkansas; a son-in-law, Larry Harlan of Heber Springs, Arkansas; ten grandchildren; and several great and great-great grandchildren; a brother, Donald Thompson of Paso Robles, California; a brother-in-law, Chesley Styles of Rosamond, California; as well as a host of other family and friends.

Funeral services are 11:00 a.m. Friday, February 20, 2026 at The Church on the Hill in Gravette, Arkansas with Jim Starr and David Barber officiating. Burial will follow at Butler Creek Cemetery. Those honoring her life by serving as pallbearers are Shayne Matthews, Layne Matthews, Robert Coffelt, Jason Coleman, Dyllen Hern, Jeff Amos and Zach Poulter. The family will receive friends from 5-7:00 p.m. Thursday at the church. Memorials are being directed to Butler Creek Cemetery Care Fund c/o the funeral home. Arrangements are under the care of Ozark Funeral Home in Anderson, Missouri.
