(From Derfelt Funeral Home)Alonzo Eugene Ferguson, age 82, passed away at 10:23 am, Monday, July 6, 2026 at his home following an illness.
Lonnie was born September 1, 1943 in Arkansas. His parents were Leroy and Opal Ferguson. They relocated to Galena in the early 1960's and he attended Galena High School.
He married Anna Darlene Simpson on December 9, 1963 in Joplin, MO. She preceded him in death March 9, 2011.
Lonnie lived on a farm in Stark City, MO for 25 years before relocating to Joplin, MO in 2004. He then Moved back to Galena 3 years ago.
He was a truck driver, working for several different trucking companies. For awhile, he was a self employed driver. Among his interests were watching western movies, and spending time with his kids and grandkids. Lonnie never knew a stranger and loved to talk to people.
Surviving are three children, 17 grandchildren, and countless great-grandchildren along with extended family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, two sons, Ricky Atkins and Mike Douglas, his granddaughter whom he raised, Debbie Douglas, his sister, Diane Foster, and four brothers.
Graveside services will be at 3 ;00 pm, on Thursday, July 16, 2026 at Oak Hill Cemetery, Galena, KS.
