Elizabeth M. "Betty" (Hall) Pearish, age 89, passed away Friday, May 13th at Mercy Hospital following a brief illness and a beautiful long life. Elizabeth was born September 21, 1926 in Spring City, MO to Albert and Ava (Stinson) Hall. Elizabeth married Forrest E. Pearish on September 20, 1942, and they built a 58 year marriage, a family, and a business together.
Elizabeth was a strong woman with a deep sense of fun. She loved to dance, and once won a Jitterbug contest. She was good at math, fond of cards, and could hit a baseball out of the park. She was a mom, a sister, an aunt, and a Granny. She filled each role with distinction. There was always room at her table for everyone that came through her door, and she doled out hugs on an as needed basis.
Elizabeth did her part for the war effort in WWII by making parachutes while her husband served in the Army Air Corp. She went on to work for Elders, Millers, Vogol, and finally Meeker Manufacturing where she made leather goods for over 20 years before retiring as a proud member of the union.
In her retirement she co-owned Gene Pearish Auto Body in Joplin, and later worked as a clerk for the Salvation Army.
Elizabeth is survived by her children: Forrest Eugene Pearish Jr. of Joplin, MO; Bob Pearish of Oronogo, MO; Jim Pearish of Galena, KS; Bruce Hall of Seneca, MO; and Treva Hall Golden of Seneca, MO; 21 grandchildren, and many, many great grandchildren.
She was proceeded in death by her husband Forrest E. Pearish in 2001, her daughter Betty Jean Pearish in 1943, her daughter Juanita Irene Pearish Church in 2012, her daughter-in-law Sherry Pearish in 2012, her son Bill Pearish in 2015, her great-granddaughter Nicole Pearish in 2011, and her great-granddaughter Shelby Shumaker in 2016. Her siblings; Daisy, Frances, Anna, Albert, William, James, and Clarence Hall also proceed her in death.
The family will host visitation Monday, May 16th at 6:30 p.m. at Parker Mortuary in Joplin. Funeral Services will follow on Tuesday, May 17th at 10:00 A.M. Interment will follow at Saginaw Cemetery. Her grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
