Melvin Jones, age 77, went to be with the Lord Mother's Day, May 8, 2016.
He was born February 21, 1939 at Webb City, Mo. He graduated in 1957 from Diamond High School. He was a retired machinist.
Melvin married Earline Boyd March 16, 1959. She survives.
Additional survivors include children, Cheryl Flint and husband, Dick, Larry Jones, Sandra Hood and husband, Tim, and Vickie Potts and husband, Will. Melvin also raised two granddaughters, Faith Jones and Briannah Jones. Melvin had several other grandchildren, Brandon Jones, Chelsea Gordon, Dylan Flint, Larry Jones, Justin Potts, Katie Potts and William Potts; great-grandsons, Kayden Sprenger and Zaiden Newman; and great-great-grandson, Ryder Abrams. Melvin had a special bond with each of his children and grandchildren. Melvin is also survived by one brother and four sisters. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Walter Jones.
Visitation, then memorial services, will be held Tuesday, May 17, at 2:00 p.m. at Faith Assembly of God Church, 7211 East 32nd Street, Joplin.
