Helen Marie Boursheski age 89 passed away May 11, 2016. She devoted her life as a homemaker and mother. Helen was born Feb 9, 1927 in Wentworth Mo. Parents, John and Florence Szydloski, both deceased. She married Alvin Boursheski Oct 22, 1947 in Kansas City, Mo. She is survived by a son, Stan Boursheski (wife Jackie), Peculiar, Mo. 2 daughters, Kathy Merritt (husband Bob), Carthage, Mo. Jeanne Slaughter (husband James) Prairie Village, Ks. 2 sisters, Gladys Filarski (Frank) Sarcoxie, Mo. Agnes Stroud, Carthage, Mo. 2 grandsons, Reed Slaughter and Scott Lightner, 3 granddaughters, Annie Slaughter, Ashlee Haynes, and Lauri Gray and 6 great grandchildren. Helen was preceded in death by her husband, Al in June 1981, son, Alan in Dec 1962 and daughter Pam in March 2016.
Helen was a member of St. Ann’s Catholic Church, PCCW, McCune Brooks Hospital aux. and VFW aux. She had worked as an asst. buyer for the hospital gift shop for 17 years. She had served as PTO president for the State School in Joplin and member of Morgan Heights Pep Club.
A visitation will be held on Sunday evening, May 15, 2016, with a rosary at 6pm and visitation to follow at 6:30pm at the Knell Mortuary Chapel. A funeral mass will be held at 10:00 a.m. Monday, May16, 2016 at St. Ann’s Catholic Church, Carthage, Mo. Father Jay Friedel will officiate. Interment will follow at Pulaskifield Cemetery, Pierce City, Mo. Family would appreciate, in place of plants or flowers, donations would be considered as Memorial gifts to Joplin Workshop, Inc. or St. Ann’s School in care of Knell Mortuary.
