Ed Earnst

C.E. “Ed” Earnst, 92, of Carthage, passed away Tuesday May 17, 2016 at St Luke’s Nursing Home. 

Ed Earnst was born February 19, 1924 east of Avilla, the son of W.D. Earnst and Fern (Ritchey) Earnst. He graduated from Sarcoxie High School in 1942. He married Cora B. Edwards November 22, 1944. She preceded him in death March 24, 1997. He was a farmer and a rancher, and also drove livestock trucks. In 1980 he and his wife sold their holdings east of Avilla and moved to Carthage. He was a member of the First Christian Church for 64 years. He was proud of his church and also enjoyed having coffee with his friends at Hardee’s. He loved to ride in his pick-up and check the new roads and bridges, He was a very generous person and helped many people in the area. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends. 

He is survived by a Sister-in-law Louise Barton two nephews and two nieces. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, two sisters Loise Swindle and Wilma Baum, two nieces and two nephews. 

Services will be 2:00 p.m. Friday May 20, 2016 at Ulmer Funeral Home. Burial will be following at Park Cemetery. Contributions can be made to the American Cancer Society in care of Ulmer Funeral Home. Online condolences can be made at www.ulmerfh.com.
