Linda Russell

Linda Marie Russell, 68 of Oronogo, passed away Thursday, May 19, 2016 at Mercy Hospital following a short illness.

Linda was born February 7, 1948 in Omaha, Nebraska to the late Jerry Thomas and Catherine Chudy Thomas. Later moving to the Joplin and Webb City area, Linda graduated from Webb City High School in 1966. She loved sewing and crafts, working for Benjamin Franklin and even owning her own sewing shop called Needle Nook. Linda worked for Freeman Hospital as manager of the Gift Shop but later ended doing what she loved best, a Homemaker.

Linda loved to shop at the Farmer's Market and watching all sorts of cooking shows. She was a proud member of Joplin Service Club of the Blind and was a board member with the Missouri Council for the Blind. Most of all, she loved to spend as much time as possible with her two grandchildren.

On September 22, 1967, Linda married Robert (Bob) Russell in Joplin. After 48 years together, Bob survives of the home in Oronogo.

Additional survivors include a daughter, Missy Seward and husband, Jeff of Carthage; son, Robert Russell and wife, Tara of Overland Park, Kansas; grandchildren, Lauren and Rhett Russell.

Other than her parents, Linda is preceded in death by her sister, Catherine Fly.

Funeral services are planned for Tuesday, May 24 at 2:00 p.m. at Parker Mortuary. Family will receive friends on Monday from 7-8:00 p.m. at the mortuary.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Joplin Service Club of the Blind in care of the mortuary.

Funeral arrangements are under the trust of Parker Mortuary, Joplin, Missouri.
