Doris L. Elliot, 80, Denton, TX., formerly of Carthage, MO, passed away Saturday morning, May 21, 2016 at Denton Regional Medical Center, Denton. Doris L. Elliot was born November 27, 1935 in Garfield, SD to Peter Engebrit Anderson and Mildred Alice (Larson) Anderson. Doris married the late John P. Elliot on August 26, 1955 in Wichita, KS. She worked as a personnel manager at Gurneys Seed and Nursery and retired as a Director with United Way. She loved reading, arts and crafts, ancestry research, gardening and traveling.
Survivors include her two sons, John D. Elliot (wife Penni), Denton, TX, and Stephen Elliot (wife Christine), New Bern, NC; three daughters, Cheryl Harts (husband Darwin), Norfolk, NE, Sharon Bailey, Gilbert, AZ, and Sandra Slocum (husband Russell), Otterville, MO; one brother, Dennis Anderson (wife Sherry) Ottawa, KS and one sister Beverly Mardis (husband Steve), Wichita, KS; 14 grandchildren, and 16 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, one brother Marvin Anderson, and three sisters, Maxine Kerr, Phyllis Fulton and Marilyn Efurd.
A Memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Friday, May 27, 2016 at Carthage Nazarene Church. Pastor Dustin Ledford will officiate. The Elliot family requests that memorial gifts be given to the Kid’s Camp in care of the Carthage Nazarene Church. Online condolences may be expressed through www.knellmortuary.com.
