Rodger E. Allen, 79, Carthage, Mo., passed away Tuesday evening, May 17, 2016 at Freeman West Hospital, Joplin. Rodger Eugene Allen was born January 23, 1937 in Centralia, KS to the late Lawrence Eldon Allen and Claira Jane (Culver) Allen. Rodger married Laveida “Sue” Spruce on September 4, 1982 in Carl Junction, MO; she survives. He was self-employed, and loved fishing.
Survivors include his wife, two sons, Rick Allen (wife Elizabeth), Wilburton, OK, and Randy Allen, Joplin, MO; two daughters, Rhonda Barnes (husband Brett), Miami, OK, and Rita Womack, Carl Junction, MO; two step sons, Gary Spruce (wife Rebecca), Joplin, MO, and Robert Spruce (wife Tammy), Stella, MO; one brother, Rev. Eldon Lee Allen (wife Glenda), Butler, MO; one sister, Carol Claxton, Sarcoxie, MO; fifteen grandchildren, and nineteen great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Visitation will be held 6:00-7:00 p.m. Sunday, May 22, 2016 at Knell Mortuary. Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Monday, May 23, 2016 at Knell Mortuary. Clint Silvertooth and Ted Baugh will officiate. Interment will follow the service at Park Cemetery, Carthage. Online condolences may be expressed through www.knellmortuary.com.
