Anita 'Darlene' Leakey, 63 of Neosho, passed away on Wednesday, May 25, 2016 at Mercy Hospital following a short illness.
Darlene was born November 6, 1952 in Sumter, South Carolina to Arthur Smith and the late Bessie Baker Smith. She worked as a Certified Nurse Aide for 20 years in many nursing homes. Darlene was of the Church of God faith.
On June 12, 1976, Darlene married Joseph Leakey in Neosho, Missouri. He survives of the home in Neosho.
Additional survivors include her father, Arthur Smith of Darlington, South Carolina; sons, Clancy Leakey of Joplin, James Disher and wife, Dacia of Montoursville, Pennsylvania; daughter, Angela Winstead and husband, Chester of Joplin; brothers, Chris Smith and wife, Heather of Stanford, Kentucky, Bruce Smith and wife, Jane of Watton, Norfolk, England; sister, Tammy Sweeney and husband, David of Marion, South Carolina; 8 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild plus many extended family and friends.
Other than her mother, Darlene is additionally preceded in death by a sister, Debbie Coker.
A memorial service has been planned for Saturday, May 28 at 10:00 a.m. at Parker Mortuary with visitation to follow.
Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Parker Mortuary, Joplin, Missouri.
