Tom David Ashmore, age 80, Joplin, passed away on Saturday, May 14, 2016 at Mercy Hospital in Joplin.
Tom was born April 8, 1936 in Sherman, Texas, son of the late Tommy Amos Ashmore and Madelyn Norwood Ashmore. He graduated from High School, and then earned a Bachelor's Degree from Oklahoma State University in Stillwater, Oklahoma in Business Management. He served in the National Guard, and was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church. He was active in his children's lives, and was a former coach for the American Legion Post 619 Baseball Team. He worked in construction, and was contractor in the Joplin area, and several other states, during his career as a builder.
He married Barbara Stanley on May 26, 1959 in Tulsa, Oklahoma, she survives. Additional survivors include his children, David Ashmore of Seneca, Todd Ashmore and wife Mary of Lewisville, Texas, Nancy Ashmore Hughlett and husband Eddie of Highland Village, Texas, and Robert Ashmore and wife Deonna of Flower Mound, Texas; a brother, Mike Ashmore and wife Clara of Homosassa, Florida; grandchildren, David Ashmore, Tommy Ashmore and wife Hillary, Marshall Hughlett, Tanner Hughlett, Chris Webster, Meghan Ashmore, Madelyn Ashmore, Lane Ashmore, Josie Ashmore, Lauren Reeves, Lacy Reeves, Bobbie Ashmore; great-grandchildren, Liam Ashmore and Sam Ashmore.
The family will receive friends at Parker Mortuary on Tuesday, May 17, 2016, from 12:00 noon to 2:00 p.m. Memorial services will be held at a later date in Texas.
The family requests that memorial contributions be made to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF),
Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Parker Mortuary.
