Kay Leighton-Floyd

Mrs. Kay Lucille Leighton-Floyd, 98, of Anderson, Missouri, passed away on Sunday morning, May 15, 2016, at the Golden Living Center in Anderson, Missouri.

Kay was born on November 29, 1917, in Portland, Oregon, daughter of the late Arthur and Minnie (Anderson) Bergeson.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Howard Albert Leighton-Floyd on April 13, 2007; thee brothers, Gordon, Don and Bob Bergeson; a grandson, Matthew Hitt; and a great-great grandson, Riley Owen Hitt.

Kay is survived by her two children, Barbara Hitt and husband, Don, of Pineville, Missouri and Al Leighton-Floyd and wife, Joy, of Cassville, Missouri; five grandchildren; twelve great grandchildren; thirteen great-great grandchildren; one sister, Betty Raymond of Seattle, Washington; several nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other family and friends.

Kay grew up in Whitefish, Montana. On October 21, 1936, she married Howard Leighton-Floyd. They made their home in Independence, Knob Noster, Holden, Noel and Pineville, Missouri as well as Rogers, Arkansas. They were married nearly seventy-one years. During those years they enjoyed two trips to Jerusalem. They operated the Cove Restaurant, Dairy Inn and Mt. Shira Beach all located near Lanagan, Missouri. They also had farms and ranches. She was a member of the Church of Christ where she spent many years as song leader. Her joys were her family, home and her flowers. She will be remembered as a sweet, classy lady who was well loved by many.

Funeral services for Mrs. Leighton-Floyd are 11:00 a.m. Saturday, May 21, 2016, in the Anderson Chapel of the Ozark Funeral Homes with Elders Mike Hitt and Paul Savage officiating. The family will receive friends on Saturday morning at 10:00 a.m. in the funeral home chapel. Graveside services and burial will take place on Monday, May 23, 2016 at 12:00 noon in the Knob Noster Cemetery in Knob Noster, Missouri.
