Nancy Neubert Howerton died peacefully in her sleep on May 11, 2016 at St. Luke’s Nursing Center, Carthage. Nancy was born July 13, 1929, at the family home on 1314 S. Garrison, to Ernest C. and Viola Hutchison Neubert. She was a lifelong resident of Carthage, attending Mark Twain Elementary School and graduating in 1947 from Carthage High School. On May 15, 1948 Nancy married James R. Howerton. She was a stay-at-home mom until her youngest child was in high school, and then she joined “Jimmy” in operating the family business, Howerton Cleaners. She also obtained her real estate license but preferred working at “the plant”.
Nancy was preceded in death by her parents, older brother, E.C. Neubert, Jr., younger sister, Kay Neubert Locarni, and husband, Jim.
Nancy is survived by her daughter, Nancy Dymott (husband Jeff); her son, David Howerton (wife Sherry); Grandchildren are Jean Ann Dymott, James Dymott, John Howerton, Katie Rodrigues, and Sarah Embry. Surviving siblings are Mary Barksdale and William Neubert, both of Carthage, and many surviving nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held 1-2:00 p.m. Thursday, May 19, 2016 at Knell Mortuary; preceding the funeral service at 2:00 p.m. James Lee of the First United Methodist Church will officiate. Interment will follow the service at Park Cemetery, Carthage. Memorial gifts are suggested to the First United Methodist Church in care of Knell Mortuary, 308 W. Chestnut, Carthage, MO 64836.
