Jack Mitchell

Jack Mitchell, age 85 of Neosho, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, May 26, 2016. 

 Jack Delmer Mitchell was born February 13, 1931 in Stella, Missouri to Delmer (D.I.) and Ella (Hoobler) Mitchell. He graduated from Granby High School in 1949 and served in the National Guard from 1949-1959 and was a platoon leader. Jack received a college degree in engineering through the International Correspondence Schools. After receiving his degree, he moved his family to Wichita, Kansas in 1961 to work for Litwin Engineering and Construction Company and enjoyed his career there for ten years. He returned to Neosho in 1971 and went to work for Schreiber Food Company as a consulting engineer. He worked at several locations, including Carthage, Monett, Clinton and Green Bay, Wisconsin. He traveled extensively state side and internationally including Alaska and Brazil. He retired in 1993. Jack loved the outdoors and loved to fish. He made daily trips to his beloved farm in Monark Springs and made coffee for those who would drop in for a chat. After retirement, he enjoyed fishing in Texas and at Stockton Lake. He spent endless hours on the Monark Springs Park Community Center and was a key player on the revitalization of the Monark Springs Park. He was a member of the Sweetwater Baptist Church. 

 Jack is survived by his wife of almost 65 years, Dotty (Button) whom he married on December 1, 1951 in Bentonville, Arkansas. He is also survived by a daughter, Jerry McDonald and husband, Kurt of Hollister, Missouri, their three children and spouses and six grandchildren and a son, Barry Mitchell and wife, Denise of St. Charles, Missouri and their three children. He is preceded in death by a son, Terry Ray Mitchell and his parents.
