Dorris Mayfield

Dorris Pauline Mayfield, age 91, of Lockwood, Missouri passed away October 28, 2018 at Good Shepherd Community Care in Lockwood, Missouri.

Dorris was born January 21st, 1927 in Bronaugh to Gilbert Harold Mayfield and Ida Mable (Sisseck) Mayfield . Dorris graduated Liberal High School in 1945. After graduating, she moved to Kansas City, Missouri where she attend Dickinson Secretarial College and St. Teresa College. In 1956 she took a job with the Central Intelligence Agency as an Intelligence Analyst and was assigned to United States Embassies in Sudan, Egypt, Taiwan, Korea, South Vietnam, Laos, Thailand, Hong Kong, Ethiopia, and Chicago. After retiring from the CIA in 1986, she lived in Florida for ten years until returning to Kansas City where she worked as a volunteer at St. Luke's Hospital Historical Archives. In 2000, Doris returned to Liberal and later to Lamar, where she was active as the treasurer for the local OATS Bus organization. Dorris was raised as a Baptist and loved her cats, which she considered her children.

Dorris is survived by one brother, Dr. Donald Mayfield, Springdale, Arkansas; two sisters in law, Carolyn Mayfield, Belton, Missouri and Jane Mayfield, Lamar, Missouri; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Preceding her in death were her parents; two brothers, Vincil Mayfield in June 2018 and Howard Mayfield in 1999.

Graveside services will be held at 2:00 pm , November 3, 2018 at Iantha Cemetery.
