Nadine Bennett

Nadine Ellen Dunn Burkhart Bennett, age 86, Joplin, passed away on Saturday, October 20, 2018 at 2:40 p.m. after a short time at Joplin Gardens battling cancer.

Nadine was born January 27, 1932 in El Dorado Springs, Missouri, daughter of the late Dewey Fox and Mable Whiteside Fox. She was a devoted wife and mother who always put others ahead of herself. As a young woman she worked as an independent contractor, working as a housekeeper for several people in the Joplin area, and with the Olivia Apartment Complex. She was a member of the Church of God (Holiness), the VFW Auxiliary, and the Joplin Blind Association. She loved her grandchildren, and they had many loving memories of their grandmother. She will be greatly missed.

In addition to her parents, Nadine was preceded in death by her husband, Winifred Burkhart, sons, Fred Dunn in 2016, and Raymond Dunn in 2017; sister, Mary Steckstor.

Nadine is survived by her husband, Amos "Sonny" Edward Bennett, whom she married June 5, 1999; son, Arthur Dunn of Joplin; daughter, Linda J. Tilton and husband Donnie of Oronogo, Missouri; 11 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren, and five great-great-grandchildren; sister, Nellie May Watson of Joplin; brothers, Frank Fox of El Dorado Springs, and Forrest Fox of Melrose, Kansas; several nieces and nephews.

Funeral service will be Saturday, October 27, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. in Parker Mortuary Chapel with Rev. Rex Scoles officiating. Interment will follow in Burkhart Cemetery, Racine, Missouri, with family serving as pallbearers.

The family will receive friends at Parker Mortuary on Friday from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m.

The family requests that memorial contributions be made to the American Cancer Society.

Nadine always enjoyed getting together for food and fellowship with her friends and family. Immediately after the graveside service, the family will be holding a gathering for her friends and family in her memory at Webb City Senior Citizens, 210 N. Pennsylvania, Webb City, for food and fellowship.
