Marjorie Overstreet

Marjorie Adena Overstreet, 95, of Monett, MO, passed away Monday evening, October 29, 2018, at Lacoba Homes of Monett.

Marjorie was born on February 9, 1923 in near Granby, MO. The daughter of James Arthur Roberts and Sarah Jane (Perkins) Roberts, she married Raymond C. Overstreet on December 23, 1941, in Neosho, MO. They were married almost 67 years. She and Raymond became members of Clear Creek Baptist Church near Pierce City, MO, in the 1960’s and later joined First Baptist Church in Monett.

Marjorie was preceded in death by her husband Raymond Overstreet on October 27, 2008. She was also preceded in death by one brother, Tilford Roberts, and three sisters: Merl Durbin, Pearl Trantham and Marie Coffey. In addition to being survived by one son, Lonnie Overstreet and wife Katie of Springfield, MO; and one daughter, Yvonne Overstreet Kerr and husband Tom of Monett, MO; she is also survived by six nieces: Virginia Hall of Powell, MO, Mary Hennessey of Neosho, MO, Betty Jones of Neosho, MO, Roselee Sinn of Manomet, MA, Mary Oxtoby of Wagoner, OK and Jeannette Gripka of Pierce City, MO; and four nephews, Jim Coffey of Jenks, OK, Larry Coffey of Tulsa, OK, Terry Coffey of Sands Springs, OK and Ron Durbin of Concord, NH.

Marjorie was a resident of Lacoba Nursing Home for a little over two years. She was very happy there and received excellent care.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, November 1, 2018, from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. at Buchanan Funeral Home in Monett, MO and this visitation will be followed by a graveside service at Clear Creek Baptist Church Cemetery, ten miles west of Monett at 2:30 p.m. on Thursday. Memorial contributions can be made to Clear Creek Cemetery Fund. Reverend Brian Smith of First United Methodist Church in Monett will be officiating.

Arrangements are under the personal care and direction of Buchanan Funeral Home, Monett, MO.
