James Charles “Jim” McGruder, age 70, of Neosho, Missouri, passed away Monday, October 15, 2018 at his home.
He was born June 21, 1948 in Springfield, Missouri the son of Lee Roy and Beulah (Hopkins) McGruder. On May 23, 1970 he was united in marriage to Connie Corbin, who survives. Also surviving are one son, James Travis McGruder and his wife Elizabeth of Granger, Indiana; one daughter, Krista Le McGruder of New York and two grandchildren, James Tyler McGruder and Ella Rae McGruder.
Preceding Jim in death were his parents; one infant daughter, Michelle McGruder; one brother, Kenneth Byron McGruder, September 16, 2001 and two sisters, Jane McGruder Treat, 2001 and Shirley McGruder Carr, October 16, 2008.
Jim grew up and received his education at Cassville, Missouri where he graduated from high school in 1966 and then attended SMS in Springfield, Missouri. He worked for his brother, Ken and then for Tri State Motor Company in Joplin, Missouri. After moving to Neosho he owned and operated a 7-11 convenience Store, where he became well known in the community. Later he started his own business, Ozark Wood and Cabinet, where he became known as a Master Craftsman. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge, Scottish Rite, Abou Ben Adhem Shrine and was an Eagle Scout through Troop 76 in Cassville, Missouri. He attended Calvary Baptist Church in Neosho, Missouri.
Services will be held at 10:00 A.M. Friday, October 19, 2018 at Fohn Funeral Home in Cassville. Burial will be at Maplewood Cemetery in Exeter, Missouri.
There will be no visitation.
Contributions may be made to the Teddy Bear Ministry of Calvary Baptist Church of Neosho or Faithful Friends Animal Shelter of Neosho in memory of Jim.
