Willis Finn

(From Buchanan Funeral Home)

Willis W. Finn of Edmond, OK, left this life to be with the Lord on October 16, 2018. He was a man that loved his family and loved his work. Willis was born in Treece, KS, on September 20, 1926 to Joe Finn and Vina (Ferguson) Finn. He spent his early years around Granby, MO and graduated from Joplin High School. On May 9, 1949, Willis married Helen Davis, who was to be his life-long love and inspiration. After active military service, Willis and Helen settled into the Monett, MO area where they resided until after Helen’s passing when Willis relocated to Oklahoma City in November of 2016.

Willis spent 10 years of his early working career as head butcher for Harold’s Consumers Market before joining Friend Tire Service in 1959 as a route salesman. The next 20 years, he traveled about 1300 miles each week across western and southern Arkansas, making friends of his customers and training many young ‘Friend’ sales recruits.

After leaving Friend Tire Service, Willis and Helen bought and operated the Wheaton Locker until they retired in 1990. During the following years, Willis raised cattle and volunteered much of his time to Berwick Community Church, where he served as an Elder, and to the development of Jolly Mill Park, serving as president of the ‘Friends of Jolly Mill’ for several years.

Willis was preceded in death by his wife, his parents, his sister Nadine Finn Garbaz, his brother Norman Finn and son-in-law Bill Ireland. He is survived by his three children, Gary Finn and wife Lee Ann of Oklahoma City, Judy Finn Ireland of Oklahoma City, and Larry Finn and wife Jan of Lee’s Summit; 8 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren and 4 great-great-grandchildren.
