Glen Means

Mr. Glen William Means, 73, of Joplin, Missouri, departed this life on Wednesday, October 24, 2018, at KU Medical Center in Kansas City, Kansas, after a brief battle with Leukemia.

Glen entered this life on May 2, 1945, in Joplin, Missouri, one of five children born to the late Henry and Ester (Machlin) Means. He was raised in the Lakeside Community and was a 1963 graduate of Webb City High School, furthering his education at Joplin Junior College.

On June 28, 1965, in Webb City, Missouri he was united in marriage to Gloria Sue Studivan and to this union a son and daughter were born. They resided in Kansas City for thirteen years before returning home in 1978. For over twenty-five years he was employed by Eagle Picher in Joplin, retiring in 2001. He enjoyed old cars, staying active, was an excellent handyman and loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. Glen was of the Baptist faith.

Glen is survived by his beloved wife of fifty-three years, Gloria Sue Means of the home; two children, Bryan Means and wife, Susan, of Neosho, Missouri and Stephanie Cowan and husband, Kyle, of Carl Junction, Missouri; eight grandchildren, Jacob, Josiah, Joshua, Jessica, kylie, Carson, Eric and Addisen; four great grandchildren, Carson, Bryan, Carter and Easton; as well as a host of other family and friends.

Funeral services for Mr. Means will be held graveside on Monday, October 29, 2018, at 1:00 p.m. at the Cowan Cemetery near Powell, Missouri, with Vera Probert officiating. Those honoring his life by serving as pallbearers are Bryan Means, Jacob Means, Josiah Means, Joshua Means, Carson Cowan and Kyle Cowan. The family will receive friends on Sunday afternoon from 2-4:00 p.m. in the chapel of Hedge-Lewis-Goodwin Funeral Home in Webb City, Missouri.
