Richard Bunn

(From Weng Funeral Chapel)

Richard Alan Bunn passed away on October 8, 2018 after a hard-fought battle with cancer. As with many other aspects of his life he gave it his best.

Born to Harlan and Geraldine Bunn on January 5, 1953 at Carthage, Missouri, Richard grew up in the Jasper community where he was an avid athlete – still retains the school record in the 1 mile run – fisherman, arrow-hunter and dedicated friend.

Richard is survived by his mother, Geraldine Bunn, of Jasper, Missouri, one brother, Jerry (Kathleen) Bunn of Jasper, Missouri and one sister, Judy Mevius of Mesquite, Texas. His nephews, niece, great nephews and great nieces were a constant joy to him. They include Austin (Lisa) Bunn, Skyler and Halli of Bolivar, Missouri; Amanda (Matt) Jones, Kady and Ayvrie of Troutman, North Carolina; Jason (Jessica) Mevius and William of McKinney, Texas. His aunt, Lois Young, as well as his cousins held special places in his heart as did long time friends who walked the roads of life with him. He was a true friend to many.

Richard was baptized at Jasper Christian Church; he attended and graduated from Jasper R-5 School in 1970. He held various jobs in construction and manufacturing throughout his life. He once worked as a VIP chauffeur at Willie Nelson’s Picnic.

Graveside services will be conducted by Reverend Elvin Winans Jr. at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, October 13, 2018 at Mitchell Cemetery, east of Jasper, under the direction of Weng Funeral Chapel. In lieu of flowers, please help out someone in need, as Richard would have done, or feel free to make a donation to Mitchell Cemetery.

Arrangements are under the care and direction of Weng Funeral Chapel. Online condolences can be made at wengfuneralchapel.com
