Wanda Roland

Wanda L. Roland, age 82, of Carthage, passed away on Thursday October 18, 2018, at St. Luke’s Nursing Center in Carthage.

Wanda was born on October 5, 1936, in Joplin, Mo. the daughter of the late Ernest and Bessie (Mathis) Goodwin. She grew up and was a lifelong resident of the Joplin area. She was employed for several years for Elders Manufacturing of Webb City and the Jasper Popcorn plant of Jasper. Wanda was the mother of six children and lived a life committed to raising her children and grandchildren. She was known to many as a kind and loving person who was always willing to help anyone. She loved being with her family and cooking for them. She enjoyed the outdoors and fishing. Her hobbies were crocheting and sewing.

Survivors include one son, Daniel Roland, of Joplin; four daughters, Diana Hughey, of Joplin, Delores Dermott, of Carthage, Donna Lambeth, of Carthage, and Darlene McReynolds, of Joplin; 17 grandchildren; and 37 great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents, Wanda was preceded in death by two brothers, Eldon and Leonard Goodwin; a daughter Deborah Osborn; and two grandsons, Samuel Long and Michael McReynolds.

In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Alzheimer’s foundation in care of the funeral home.

The family will receive friends on Friday October 26, 2018, from 6:00 pm until 7:00pm at the Mason-Woodard Chapel in Joplin.

Arrangements are under the care and direction of Mason-Woodard Mortuary.
