Reed Harper

Reed O’Neil Harper, 64, entered into rest on October 27, 2018 at his Joplin home after a six year illness. He was born April 23, 1954 in Springfield, MO to Russell O’Neil and Marie (Meyer) Harper. He lived in the Springfield/Joplin areas most of his life. Reed retired as an engineer for ATT after 37 years of service. He was very mechanical and loved to fix things. He also enjoyed working on cars, going camping, and bicycling. He was a member of the Celebration Church in Joplin and had been a member of College Heights Christian Church for 30 years.

Reed married Sonja (Hoover) Harper on April 28, 1984 in Joplin, MO; she survives. Additional survivors are his son, Wade Harper and wife, Kelsey of Joplin; mother-in-law, Ila Jean Hoover of Joplin; brother, Gene Harper and wife, Nancy of Paulsbo, WA; brother-in-law, Les Hoover and wife, Sherry of Neosho; sisters, Lorri McKnight of Joplin, Jann Sanford of Greenville, SC, Karla Boissenet of Amarillo, TX, and LeAnn Harper of Rogersville, MO; nephews, Cash Hoover, Erik Boissenet, and Chuck Boissenet; nieces, Barbi Trevarrow, Kaiti Hoover, M.D., Rose Harper, Shannon Glyer, and Lyndsey Johnson; numerous great nieces and nephews; and his four-legged best friend, Yeti. Reed was preceded in death by his parents; brother-in-law, Mike Hoover; father-in-law, Doc Hoover; brother, Daniel Harper; and sister, Rhonda Harper.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held 5:00 pm, Wednesday, October 31, 2018 at Celebration Church, 1301 S. Duquesne Rd., Joplin, MO with Brandon Dorris officiating.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to God’s Resort or Celebration Church, c/o Clark Funeral Home, PO Box 66, Neosho, MO 64850.

The family wishes to thank Dr. John deGroot, Dr. Jeff Weinberg, M.D. Anderson Cancer Center, and Avalon hospice.
