Thelma Chapman

Thelma E. Chapman, Neosho, entered into rest on Oct. 22, 2018 at Freeman Neosho Hospital at the age of 94.

 Thelma was born Aug. 5, 1924 in Mexia, Texas, the daughter of Fredrick and Jewel (Buckley) Burris. She moved to Neosho on Dec. 26, 1969 from Seneca. Thelma owned and operated Chapatel Tailor Shop and succeeded her husband, after his death as an agent for BMA Insurance. She was a former member of the Business and Professional Women’s organization and the Neosho Art Guild. She was a member of the Neosho United Methodist Church, a member of United Methodist Women and a member of the Lydia Circle. Thelma and Ralph Chapman were married in 1946 in Kansas City, Missouri and he preceded her in death on May 26, 1996. 
 
She is survived by three children, Stephen Chapman and wife, Easter of Neosho; Gregory Chapman and wife, Sally of St. Charles, MO and Julie A. Chatman and husband, Brian of Columbia, MO; six grandchildren; six great grandchildren and a brother, Charles Burris of Olathe, KS. In addition to her husband and parents, she is preceded in death by two brothers, Lester ‘Pete’ Burris and Howard Burris.

Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, Oct. 27, 2018 at 10 am at the Neosho United Methodist Church, Pastor Mitch Jarvis and John Styron will officiate. Interment will follow in the Neosho IOOF Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at a time of visitation Friday evening from 5:30 to 6:30 pm at the Clark Funeral Home, Neosho.
