Ivie E. Willhite, age 96, Joplin, passed away at 2:57 p.m. Wednesday, July 31, 2019 at Communities of Wildwood Ranch.
Ivie was born March 3, 1922 in Haverhill, New Hampshire to the late Elmer Cutting and Rose Hartley Cutting and had lived in Joplin most of her life.
She worked as office manager for the former Gene Willhite State Farm Insurance Agency, retiring in 1954. Ivie was a member of Temple Chapter #95, Order of Eastern Star; Pleiades Chapter #1, White Shrine of Jerusalem; the Scottish Rite Ladies and Abou Ben Adhem, Ladies of the Shrine.
Ivie enjoyed her time fishing and making ceramics. She was a die-hard St. Louis Cardinal fan and loved her family with all her heart. She will be missed by all who knew her.
Ivie married Gene Willhite on June 7, 1947 in Laconia, New Hampshire. He preceded her in death on June 20, 1998.
In addition to her husband, Ivie was preceded in death by a son, Joe Willhite; one brother, Lawrence Cutting; and a sister, Irma Bervue.
Survivors include a son, Tom Willhite, Joplin; a daughter, Bet Willhite, Joplin; three grandchildren; four great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
A memorial service is planned for Monday at 10:00 a.m. at Parker Mortuary Chapel. Rev. Joe Morris will officiate. The family will receive friends following the service at the mortuary.
Arrangements are under the direction of Parker Mortuary.
