Delbert 'Del' King, age 62 of Joplin, Missouri passed away suddenly Saturday, February 8, 2014 at his residence.
Del was born May 01, 1951 in Lamar, Missouri to the late Lloyd E. King and Thelma F. Davis King.
Del graduated from Joplin Memorial High School in 1969. Through the years, Del worked in management at many different businesses in Joplin including, Montgomery Ward’s; Howard Johnson Motor Lodge; Long John Silver’s and Arby's. He also owned and operated Red Lion Lounge and Silverados, both in Joplin. Del was an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan, collecting many baseball and sport memorabilia along the way.
Survivors include a daughter, Christy Albertson and husband John of Bartlett, KS; a son, Chad King; siblings, Bill King and wife Theresa of Carl Junction, Janie Sanders and husband Bob of Lowell, KS, Cy King of Joplin, Curt King and wife Peggy of Joplin; ten grandchildren, Brittnee, Trey, Taylor, BreAnna, Torrie, Ty, Brooklynn, Levi, Jasmine, Brooklyn; four nieces; four nephews; special friend, Julie Norman; and many extended family members and friends.
Services are planned for Wednesday 1:00 PM at Parker Mortuary with visitation to follow. In lieu of flowers you may make a donation to the Delbert Lee King funeral fund in care of Parker Mortuary.
Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Parker Mortuary, Joplin, Missouri.
