Max Sweezy

Max Sweezy, 72 passed away February 2, 2014 at his home in Carthage, Missouri.

 Max was born September 4, 1941 in rural Jasper County near Maple Grove, Missouri to Wilford Sweezy and Juanice (McConell) Sweezy. Max graduated from Carthage High School class of 1959 where he served as class president and FFA officer. Max worked for the Southwestern Bell Telephone company for 37 ½ years retiring in 2001. He was one of the founding members of the Center Creek social club where he shared many good times with close friends. Max was a lifetime Jasper County resident. He was a member of the Carthage Masonic Lodge. Max was an avid outdoors man and hunter. 

Max was united in marriage to Lee Anne (Fairchild) Sweezy June 1991 in Carthage, Missouri she survives. Max is survived by four children Audra (Jim) Hitchborn of Fort Worth, Texas, Andrea (Richard) Sneed of Carthage, Thad Taylor of Joplin, and Brice (Tracy) Taylor of Overland Park, Kansas. He was a Grandpa to ten grandchildren Madison Hitchborn, Sofia Hitchborn, Morgan Sneed, Avery Sneed, Eli Sneed, Lauren Taylor, Jake Taylor, Abby Taylor, Collin Taylor and Seth Taylor. He was honorary Grandpa to Joshua and Justin Sneed. Max is preceded by his parents and one sister Kay Artym.

 Memorial services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday February 6, 2014 at the Ulmer Funeral Home, Visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Wednesday February 5, 2014 at Ulmer Funeral Home. Interment will be at Fullerton Cemetery. Contributions may be made to the Juvenile Diabetes Association in care of Ulmer Funeral Home. Online condolences can be made at www.ulmerfh.com.
