Donna Gwendolyn (Patton) Wallace went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, February 2, 2014.
She was born on May 15, 1924 in Webb City to Nellie and Fred Patton. Donna graduated from Webb City High School in 1941 and was a lifelong resident. She was the office manager for Rex-Metallic Casket Company for 39 years, and later was a bookkeeper for Rouse Heating and Air Conditioning. Donna was a long-time member and organist of the Carterville First Baptist Church, and was also the pianist for several area gospel quartets.
On September 11, 1944 Donna married H. V. “Wally” Wallace and he preceded her in death on August 6, 1966. In addition to her parents, Donna was preceded in death by two sisters, Pat Gale and Betty Crume, and two brothers, Fred Patton and Paul Patton. Donna is survived by her sons, Steve Wallace and his wife Gwen, and Dan Wallace and his wife, Ginny, and a daughter Jana Holt and her husband Matthew, all of Webb City. Additional survivors include seven grandchildren, Steve Wallace, Stan Wallace and wife Beth, Danny Wallace and wife Shannon, David Wallace and wife Rachel, Darren Wallace and wife Candra, Melanie (Holt) Clevenger and husband Callie, and Melissa (Holt) Nance and husband Adan. Donna was very happy to be “Nana” to eleven great-grandchildren and two great-grandchildren to be.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, February 6, 2014 at 10:00 AM at the Carterville First Baptist Church with Pastor Darren Wallace officiating. A visitation will be held on Wednesday from 6:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Simpson Funeral Home in Webb City. Burial will be in Mount Hope Cemetery. Grandsons will serve as pallbearers. In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorial contributions be made to Carterville First Baptist Church in her memory. Services are under the direction of Simpson Funeral Home in Webb City.
